Useful stuff we think you should know

Bring:

Your passport, bathing suit, U.S. Dollars (Dollars are accepted in the Bahamas), sunglasses, sunscreen, golf clubs, tennis racket, card counting book

Don't Bring:

Beach towels (they are supplied by the resort), tuxedos, stress

Q/A:

Do I need a Rental car? No! Everything you need is within walking distance to the hotel (restuarants, tennis, water sports, fishing) or transportation is provided (golf courses). You do have to get in from the airport, but the cab fare is $19 from the Airport to the Hotel (for 2 or fewer people; $3 for each additional person).

What if I do rent a car? The hotel offers free parking, and don't forget that they drive on the LEFT side of the road!

How do I pay for stuff? U.S. Dollars are accepted everywhere (as are credit cards), and ATM's actually offer you the choice of withdrawing U.S. Dollars or Bahamian Dollars, and when I did it there was no fee for withdrawing Bahamian Dollars (though your own bank may charge you an ATM fee, so beware!). There is an ATM in the Manor House lobby (where you check in for the Westin) and in the village behind the hotel. The casino probably has them as well.

Do I need a passport? We recommend having your passport, otherwise you are going to need two picture IDs including a certified copy of your birth certificate.

Do I have spend a fortune at the resort? No. Right behind the hotel there is a Bahamian village with a wide array of restaurants (including pizzerias, Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Greek, Italian, French, Irish Pubs, and Bahamian Restuarants), stores and bars that are more reasonably priced than the hotel restaurants.

Can I spend a fortune? Absolutely! The hotel offers fine cuisine including a steak house and fine Italian dining.

Is there a spa? You bet!

How about golf and tennis? 2 golf courses, plus free driving range balls for hotel guests. Tennis: the hotel has 4 different surfaces (clay, grass, and 2 different hard courts).

Water Sports? Sail boats, kayaks, snorkeling, wave runners, water trampoline plus para sailing.

Fishing? Go to the marina behind the hotel and you can rent out a boat for deep sea fishing or reef fishing.

And don't forget, cars travel on the left side so look both ways before you cross the street!
